Obituary

Kannapolis

Dawn Stuart Brown, age 84, of Kannapolis, passed away suddenly December 15, 2019. Dawn was born in India on October 1, 1935 to the late James Stuart and Thelma Vera Stuart.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held on December 26, 2019 at The Laureate Center, 401 Laureate Way, Kannapolis from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Dawn leaves behind her two sons, Stuart (Donna Michel) Brown and Rhett (Lisa) Brown; her two daughters, Erin (Timothy Saunders) Smaragdis and Donel (Chris Harrison) Williams; her grandchildren, Taylor Michel, Garrett Michel, Cooper Brown, Caleb Smaragdis, Ariana Smaragdis, Mark (Nina) Holcomb and Connor Holcomb; many friends and church family.

Dawn was very involved in her church, St. Paul’s Episcopal. She volunteered at the Women’s Auxiliary with the Salvation Army, knitted beautiful prayer shawls, sweaters and scarves for her friends and family, and was a lifelong learner — Dawn taught herself the art of stained glass and even how to play the accordion. She had traveled the world, shared her experiences and wisdom with her loved ones, and still enjoyed cooking her favorite Indian cuisine for them.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Dawn to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 930 S. Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.

Cabarrus Funeral Cremation & Cemetery of Concord is serving the Brown family.

We are so sorry to hear of Dawn's passing. I will always remember her as full of life and working so hard as a single mom to provide the best for her precious children during their growing up years. We have fond memories of her and the rest of the family!

I shall miss Dawn very much. Dawn was a great friend and a dedicated Anglican Christian. We had many great discussions on Bible studies and other topics. She was also very supportive of my wife and me during our losses. Her sudden passing is a shock, but I know that she never wanted to linger and that she is in a good place. May light perpetual shine upon her!
