Obituary for Doris Ann Brigman (Blackwelder)

Doris Ann Blackwelder Brigman, age 81 passed away at St. Andrews Living Center August 22, 2022. She was born in Mt. Pleasant to the late Edward and Josephine Blackwelder.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Cabarrus Funeral & Cemetery. The funeral for Doris will begin at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. William Nix. Burial will immediately follow in the cemetery.

Doris leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Gilbert Brigman; her daughters, Leslie & husband, Gary Clark and Lynn & husband, Josh Thomas; her grandchildren, Tyler & husband, Chris Brafford, Hannah & husband, Clay Sellers, Sydney Crider, and Kennedy Crider; two great grandchildren, Lawson and Avett Sellers; her sister, Elaine Smith; many extended family member and friends.

Her family time was very special to Doris, she dedicated her life to caring for her children and then grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed day trips with her husband, and beach trips with her family. She enjoyed reading, singing and listening to Oldieā€™s music. Doris was talented musically and could sing and played piano by ear. She was a prayer warrior and follower of Jesus. Doris was a dedicated member of Glorieta Baptist Church for 67 years; she and her husband spent over 20 years serving in the church nursery. Doris was an administrative secretary at Cabarrus County Health Department 20 years.

The family is very grateful for the caring staff at St. Andrews Living Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to be made to Glorieta Baptist Church (where she was a member for 67 years) or Community Church of Mt. Pleasant Journey Fund.
