Sheila Hartsell Smith, age 66, passed away suddenly June 30, 2020 at Atrium Health NorthEast. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Carlo Hartsell and Thelma Thomas Hartsell.

Sheila leaves behind her loving husband, Randy; her son, David Ryan Whitley; her grandchildren, Samantha & husband, Tony Ferree of Harrisburg, Ryan Whitley and Alexis Whitley of Locust and her great granddaughter, Olivia Ferree.

Randy and Sheila owned the Corner Mart in Locust for many years. She made lots friends while there. She later worked at Rocky River Elementary School and Ace Hardware in Locust. Sheila enjoyed family and friends coming over to the pool. She enjoyed lunches with Kay and talking on the phone with her special friends like Marie. Her fury kids, Rocko and Bentley were very special to her. Sheila truly enjoyed life.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 12th at 3:30 pm at Meadow Creek Farm in Locust, NC.

Cabarrus, Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery is serving the Smith family.

Shelia was such a lovely lady, and I enjoyed our talks and many laughs. She will be missed by many. May God carry the family through this season of sorrow.

Sheila was a great friend to many, including my family! She will be missed. Thankful for the many memories and Chats we shared. She and my late husband always joked and cut up. I am so thankful for the times we shared. My prayers to Randy, Ryan, and the entire family! Sheila was a force and will be greatly missed!
