Raymond Ned Blackwelder, Sr. (Jack), 80 years of age, of Concord, passed away February 19, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House after a short illness.
Jack was born in Cabarrus County to his late parents, Sydney David Blackwelder and Annie Safrit.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death his brothers, John, Paul, Harold, Jim and Earl Blackwelder.
Jack was employed by Kerr Bleachery in Concord and then retired as President/Operator of Broome Sign Company of Concord.
Jack loved fishing, gardening, hunting, NY Yankees and UNC Tarheels. He was a member of NRA and a lifelong fireman. He was a chief at Cold Water Volunteer Fire Department. He was the last remaining Charter Member of Cold Water Volunteer Fire Department (1958).
Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Daphne Broome Blackwelder; his daughter, Debra Blackwelder Bridgeman and husband, Brad; two sons, Raymond Ned Blackwelder, Jr. (Tom) and wife, Tina and Steven Douglas Blackwelder and fiancé’ Gina Airheart; one brother, David R. Blackwelder (Dick) and wife, Monty; sister-in-law, Pat Blackwelder; grandchildren, Stevie Blackwelder and wife, Michelle, Casey Blackwelder and wife, Crystal, Ryan Blackwelder, Brittany Bridgeman, Samantha Graham and Jason Pierce; great grandchildren, Chase Blackwelder, Caroline Blackwelder, Ford Graham and Sawyer Barringer.
The family will receive friends at Harvest Community Church, Concord, Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and the service will begin at 4:00 pm. At other times the family will be gathering and receiving friends at their home, 244 Irish Potato Road.
